On July 31, the National Flood Insurance Program is once again set to expire. It is important to respond to this Call for Action and tell Congress to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) before it expires on July 31.
- NFIP is the primary source of flood insurance with over 5 million policies nationwide – 500,000 in Louisiana.
- Real estate transactions will be impacted. The authority to provide new flood insurance contracts will expire.
- The last lapse in 2010, resulted in the cancellation or delay of an estimated 1,400 closings each day.
